Text difference finder
When comparing two versions of a text, it’s often difficult to spot exactly what has changed, especially with longer texts or when the differences are subtle. A missing word here, an added comma there. This text difference finder offers a clear and immediate solution. Simply paste two texts, and the tool will instantly show where content has been added or removed. This makes it especially useful for anyone who regularly reviews, edits, or revises written material.
It comes in handy when reviewing revisions, but also for developers who want to compare JSON configurations. You can see, line by line, what has changed—without having to manually scan for discrepancies. Even small changes, like a space or a single letter, are clearly highlighted.
LinkHow does it work?
The widget compares two texts line by line. If a line differs, it is broken down into smaller text fragments: parts that are the same, parts that have been removed, and new additions. These differences are shown visually using color highlights: removed text appears in red, added text in green. Rather than highlighting every individual character—which tends to look chaotic—the tool groups differences into coherent text blocks. This results in a clearer and more natural view of the changes, without a clutter of coloured characters.
Everything runs directly in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, meaning your text remains private and it's safe to compare sensitive content. In addition, the texts you enter are temporarily stored in your browser, so you won’t lose anything if you refresh the page.
